You guys, I do not care about sand volleyball. And, apparently, it's not the priority for the coaching staff either. In today's Honolulu Star Advertiser ("UH Sand Volleyball continues to grow"):
The official sand schedule has been released. The home matches will be on March 15 (against Florida International) and March 16 (Hawaii Tournament with Hawaii, Hawaii Pacific, Chaminade, and Florida International). Note that the spring match for indoor against Texas Tech is also on March 15.
"As a coaching staff we want to compete and do well," (Scott) Wong said. "But our first priority is indoor, everybody knows that. We communicate that to the sand-only girls, but beach is their priority. I want them to be able to compete more and learn a different sport, but also help with indoor."That must have felt nice for the sand-only girls. The article is accompanied by a picture of Ali Longo and Ceone Nojima (a jumper for UH track and field last year) playing against Jade Vorster and Katie Spieler. Maybe they'll be partners.

How very douchey of you Wong. Granted we all know this but doesnt mean you have to say it out loud.
ReplyDeleteIf indoor is the first priority why do we only have one recruit for 2014 Wong?
ReplyDeleteHawai'i can only offer... it is up to the recruit if and when they want to commit.
DeleteCan people calm the F down about 2014 recruiting, the only real loss is hartong, and Wong got her replacement already...
ReplyDeleteWORD. Let's enjoy this 2013 season first before we get all up in arms about 2014.
Deleteyea no kidding as far as im concerned recruiting is done, emily's replacement - Kalei greeley, Aly's - Katie Spieler, Mita - taylor hiiggins
Deletedone , done the rest is gravy.
Maybe he meant that he told the indoor girls that indoor is priority ...
ReplyDeleteBut it doesn't help that he said "our first priority"...
I don't know
everyone and their grandma knows that indoor is priority so not like that's anything new
ReplyDeletethe problem is that poopela person on volleytalk who keeps whining about UH not getting top recruits.
ReplyDeletethen keep that there
Deletethat dude is soo annoying ugh
DeleteThat article was just written badly. When he said "our", I'm sure he was talking about the indoor girls and not the sand coaching staff.
ReplyDeleteRicketts came back from the Wahine basketball road trip early, I guess because of school and also she will do the color for the softball game for this Friday's game.
ReplyDeleteoooh. i didn't think she made the trip because of school. no wonder she wasn't on the group picture at disneyland that laura beeman tweeted.
DeleteRicketts was on te box score for last thursdays game against Northridge.
DeleteIt's really cool how close the wahine have gotten with Ash and Aly.

geez. it just keeps getting crazier.
Deleteawesome schedule but i read somewhere that not all the players will get to travel, only the top duos.
ReplyDeletethat makes sense since only the top five duos compete.
Deletesucks for the other 10 people then. they'll basically get to play for only the two days at home maybe.
Deleteoh well that's what it's like being on a team. the best players play the rest warm the bench.
DeleteWahine basketball, the live streaming not working.
ReplyDeleteAfter trailing 0-10 to start the game the wahine are up 18-16
