Volleyball: 2012 Volleyball Magazine NCAA Women’s All-Americans

Kudos to Emily Hartong for being named 2012 Volleyball Magazine NCAA Women's First Team All-American. Wow, that sentence is awkward. From the magazine:
The 2012 Big West Player of the Year and 2010 WAC Freshman of the Year, Hartong played various front row positions for Hawaii before settling in as an outside this season. She ranked seventh in the nation in kills per set and had only one match in which she did not post double-digit kills this season.
The one match, in case you wanted to know, was against San Diego State near the beginning of the season. Hartong posted only nine kills in 40 tries. Here is the recap of the match if you wanted to jog your memory.

  2. Congrats to those who made it to the All Academic team. For those who didn't, hit the books, yeah?

  3. Jane got at least a 3.2! Wooh! So if whatever it is she was suspended for was academic, she really, really pulled herself out of it. Go Jane!

  4. Congrats ladies. Looks like the Big West has higher academic requirements than the WAC, 3.2 instead of just a 3.0 to make it on the team.

    2. Eh. They usually call the girls by their last names anyway. So it will be Taylor, Higgins, Hagins, Adolpho and Greeley. Not that bad.

  15. Congrats to Emily the hammer. Only 10 players and 5 OH named to the first team. She beat out some heavy hitters on the 2nd and 3rd teams. VM seems to be one of the few pickers to AA teams to get it right. Remember Jane Croson one of the 4 candidates for freshmen of the year? Hays from NMSU just faded away in her soph year.
