Hawaii 8-7: Hawaii turned the ball over three times in the first two or so minutes of the game --- two by Kalei Adolpho and one by Kamilah Martin. Vicky Tagalicod made a three point shot in the first thirty seconds of the game. She started over Monica DeAngelis. Hawaii 10-12. Hawaii has seven turnovers so far, Pacific two. Fourteen minutes left in the first half. Adolpho totally just headbutt a Pacific player in the stomach. Foul called on Adolpho. Hawaii 10-18. Hawaii now has ten turnovers in contrast to Pacific's three. Hawaii 12-23 with 11:25 left in the first half.
Hawaii 12-27: Things the commentator have said so far: "Adolpho underneath being attacked by a couple of Tigers." "Meanwhile, Hawaii 5 in 6. When they're not turning the ball over, they're shooting pretty well themselves." BigWest.TV is not working. Hawaii has twelve turnovers so far. Make that thirteen. Tagalicod at the free throw line and makes both.
Hawaii 15-27: Commentator is struggling to pronounce "Karaitiana" and "DeAngelis." Also said "Kaley" Adolpho. Hawaii 16-27. Media timeout. Live stream started working just in time for me to see DeAngelis turn the ball over. And now Ashleigh Karaitiana. Hawaii 20-32. Foul called on Martin and she is yelling. Commentator: "Hawaii now has 17 turnovers. My goodness gracious." Also, "That's Tiger-riffic."
Hawaii 22-38: Six minutes left in the first half. This is bad. This is so, so bad. Laura Beeman looks like she is about to tear her hair out. Hawaii 26-38. Timeout. The Pacific mascot is making out with a beach ball. Commentator: "That Hawaii made it past half court without turning it over is a minor miracle in itself for them tonight." Oh, shut up. Martin, who leads Hawaii with 12 points, looks angry. She gets called for a foul and she just very deliberately puts the ball down and walks away. Hawaii being physical. I like it. Tagalicod tries for three, is fouled, and a Pacific player's foot is all over her as both of them fall down. She makes both.
Half: Hawaii 32-40. Hawaii with 21 turnovers. Pacific scored 23 points off turnovers. Hawaii better in free throw shooting, 85% to 50%. The Pacific mascot is pouncing on a ball or something.
Hawaii 32-42: Pacific takes the ball away from Haydel. Someone tell the commentator that the first "i" goes after the second "a" in Karaitiana's name, not before. Commentator: "Adolpho only shoots 40% from the free throw line. She's not a good shooter in general." Dear Kalei: Shut him up. Do better. Adolpho gets whistled for going for the rebound from a missed free throw. I thought they are supposed to do that? Y'all, I do not know basketball.
Hawaii 39-46: Destiny King wearing an undershirt, it looks like. Adolpho gets blocked. Adolpho on the floor and gets the ball. Karaitiana loses the ball right under the Hawaii basket. My friend: "This game is annoying me." Pua Kailiawa is in. Commentator: "Underneath is Kuehu. It looks like she traveled, but gets away with it." Laura Beeman is wearing yellow. Mary Wooley is wearing green.
Hawaii 43-53: A little less than 11 minutes left in the second half. Tagalicod and Shawna Kuehu have matching shoulder wraps. Pacific crowd is boo-ing. Kailiawa totally, but I'm sure also accidentally (maybe), chucks a Pacific player off the court. The Pacific coach is reportedly nearly at half court yelling for a call but is told to calm down.
Hawaii 45-57: Seven minutes left. Commentator: "Kendall hammered by Martin on that poke away attempt. Hi to Kendall's parents who are listening." Adolpho has three fouls. Karaitiana has zero points. The commentator keeps saying fake and bake, which makes me think of indoor tanning. Kuehu is basically the only player able to do anything right now. DeAngelis is wearing a long sleeve undershirt.
Hawaii 49-57: Four and a half minutes left in the game. Pacific averages about 73 points a game, so yay to Hawaii for keeping them under that so far, I guess. Referee calls a foul away from the play on a phantom Pacific player. Martin goes to the free throw line. Referees checking on it. Martin just wants to get on with it. Technical foul called on one of the Pacific players (she talked back to a referee). I have decided that I do not like Pacific.
Hawaii 52-63: One and a half minutes left in the game. Commentator: "Here is a driving layup attempt on the left wing and she falls hard on the rack." Me: Karaitiana falls down; is fouled. And again. Commentator says she was out of control and draws the foul herself. Blogger says commentator should shut up, and geez, Ashleigh, that was scary! Don't do that! Karaitiana called for a block. Pacific player pushes off Karaitiana and is called for a foul.
Hawaii 61-67: Thirty seconds left. Commentator: "Back court violation as Karaitiana who had passed half court passes the ball to her trailing teammate who hasn't, for some reason." Run faster, Vicky!
Final: Hawaii 61-71. Nope, I do not like this Pacific team.

The University of Hawaii women's basketball team will play against Pacific at 5:00pm HST and try to extend their current three-game win streak to four. Four! Plus, the team is currently second in the conference. Second! A video stream will be available on BigWest.TV, audio stream at PacificTigers.com; live stats will also be available at PacificTigers.com. Here is a picture of the team getting ready. Everyone think good thoughts!
According to today's Honolulu Star Advertiser article ("Wahine face their biggest Big West challenge"), Laura Beeman has more or less settled on the "team's baseline going forward": starters Monica DeAngelis, Sydney Haydel, Ashleigh Karaitiana, Kamilah Martin, and Kalei Adolpho, with reserves Shawna Kuehu, Vicky Tagalicod, and Destiny King. Beeman added, “If I can get a Diane (Moore) or a Pua (Kailiawa) or a Marissa (Wimbley) off the bench, and turn that eight into 11, it only helps us as a team."
Everyone else (Kanisha Bello, Brianna Higgins, and Stephanie Ricketts), I guess, are meh.
