Basketball: Hawaii at UC Riverside

3:24pm:  Hawaii 13-5. The commentator just said "Highlanders trailing the islanders." Clock has malfunctioned twice so far. Monica DeAngelis running point. 9:34 left in the first half. A bit of a scuffle involving Kalei Adolpho and another girl. Commentator said elbows were thrown but my friend said they were just fighting for the ball:  "I think he just exaggerated, but then again hard to see on this thing."

3:32pm:  Hawaii 18-7. Vicky Tagalicod for three! She is still wearing number 25 and Stephanie Ricketts is still wearing number 24. Riverside player just hit a pretty pretty shot from half-court. Diane Moore does the same thing --- maybe a smidge closer, but still awesome. There is a Riverside player named Akilah Martin. Hawaii has a Kamilah Martin. That has led to commentary like "Martin with a pass from down low but pass is stolen by Martin." Hawaii 21-14.

Half:  Hawaii 26-23.

Final:  They won! By 15 points! 65-50! Yay! Sorry, I realized that I had books due today so went to the library thinking I had enough time to come back and catch the last ten minutes of the game, but then got distracted because, you know, books! (Namely, this book.) Shawna Kuehu led the team with 14 points and three rebounds, followed by Kamilah Martin with 13 points and four rebounds. The team had a total nine turnovers and shot 79% at the free throw line. I am happy! And not just because I have food. Do it again!

Let's see if the University of Hawaii women's basketball team can stop the Big West's numbers 2 and 4-ranked scorers. (My friend:  Oh my word, this is going to be brutal.) The game will start at 3:00pm HST. Live video streaming will be available on BigWestTV.com, audio streaming and live stats at www.gohighlanders.com.

    1. me: That was awesome.
my friend: I know. I wish Kalei didn't let go first though. She always lets go first.
me: She only let go after the whistle.
      my friend: I don't care.

  16. It was a good road trip for the girls. I wish they could have beaten Fullerton but at least they got the split. It should give them confidence for the rest of the season.

    1. bello has the hauns brereton syndrome. lost her shot and hasn't been able to find it.

is higgins the setter or the hitter? if she's the setter, everyone seems to believe she's the second coming.

    2. Brianna Higgins, the basketball player I assume 1st Anon is talking about

    3. If I remember a recap correctly, Higgins already played yah? So she cannot redshirt.

    1. yeah, total brainfart. is basketball the same as volleyball where once you get on the court in a non-exhibition match, you burn your redshirt? if it is, then higgins burnt hers already.

  19. Next years volleyball should be confusing with the names, might have to go wit.h middle names
